We are excited to present our first development day aimed solely at SBLs following feedback from SBLs in the South West. This training and development day will be run  by practicing School Business Leaders and will involve a series of workshops. We will also be joined by special guest ‘The Real David Cameron’.

The itinerary for the day includes 3 workshop sessions. We are asking if you could please notify us by replying to this email of which of the following workshops you would like to attend:

Workshop 1 – 10-11am

‘Building your SBL network to support your role and well-being’ delivered by Helen Burge, Academy Business Leader and SRMA. Identifying and accessing SBM networks to improve your practice and develop your career goals.


‘Integrated Curriculum Financial Planning’ delivered by Emma Gray (aka WorkingSBM), MAT FD and SRMA. Demonstrating how using ICFP can improve your school’s financial efficiency.


Workshop 2 – 11am-12 noon

‘Managing your own Career Path’ delivered by Hayley Dunn, Business Leadership Specialist at ASCL. An interactive session to look at opportunities for professional development, barriers to success and strategies for your future.


‘The New School Business Manager’ delivered by Rachael Stewart, Academy SBM. Tools and strategies for maintaining your sense of humour and well-being whilst settling into your new role.


Workshop 3 – 2-3pm

‘Managing your Estate’ delivered by Julia Anwar, MAT Head of Business Operations. With funding growing ever tighter, how do we maintain and improve the learning environment?


‘Managing your Headteacher’ delivered by Andy Heron, School Business Professional. As responsibilities of the role of SBP grow, this session looks at handling this important relationship for the success of the school.


Lunch will be served at 12 noon in the Dining Hall and The Real David Cameron will be delivering his talk in the Lecture Theatre from 1pm.

Please be aware that this event is taking place on a normal school day. Please bring photo ID with you for signing in and parking will be available from 9am on the Main School Campus off Cainscross Road, Stroud GL5 4HE.
